About This Race

Embark on an unforgettable journey through the heart of Oregon's stunning high desert and lush forests with the Oregon Cascades 100. Scheduled for July 25, 2026, and based in the charming town of Sisters, OR, this event offers both a challenging 100-mile and a formidable 50-mile distance, promising an unparalleled trail running experience. Known as an "instant classic" and a Western States 100 qualifier, the race by Alpine Running has quickly gained a reputation for its well-organized execution and captivating course.

The 100-mile course is a point-to-point adventure, commencing in Bend and concluding on the spectator-friendly track at Sisters Middle School. Runners will navigate approximately 10,700 to 12,000 feet of elevation gain and 11,200 to 12,500 feet of loss, largely concentrated in the first 100 kilometers, which can make this seemingly runnable course tougher than anticipated. The terrain consists predominantly of smooth, flowing singletrack, affectionately known as "moon dust" in some early sections, offering soft running surfaces. As the miles unfold, the route transitions to more rugged trails, all while showcasing incredible views, including sections running in the shadow of Mount Bachelor and a particularly scenic high ridgeline around mile 80 that's breathtaking at sunrise. The 50-mile race, starting at Swampy Lakes Sno-park, offers 4,000 feet of gain and 6,500 feet of loss over equally stunning singletrack, making for a fast and scenic challenge.

Runners can expect comprehensive support with 12 to 14 full aid stations on the 100-mile course and 5 on the 50-mile course, providing everything from water and electrolytes to hot food items at night. Typical race day conditions in late July feature highs around 90°F and lows around 50°F, with a minimal 1% chance of precipitation, though participants should be prepared for dry conditions and the potential for wildfire smoke. The Oregon Cascades 100 stands out not just for its demanding yet rewarding trails and stunning Central Oregon backdrop, but also for its strong community atmosphere and the satisfaction of earning a custom buckle at the finish line.
