Lace up for the ORRRC Wingman 10k, a truly unique and inspiring race taking place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in Dayton, OH. Starting and finishing at EJ Nutter Park in Beavercreek, this 10K event offers a flat, paved course along the scenic Creekside Trail, perfect for runners of all abilities. The route is primarily an out-and-back, where any elevation changes are barely perceptible, making it an excellent opportunity for a personal best. Runners will enjoy the shade provided by trees lining much of the trail, and pass by the poignant Beavercreek 9/11 Memorial along the way.
What sets the Wingman 10k apart is its focus on community and teamwork, a heartfelt tribute initiated in 2014 by Race Director Eddie Weaver to honor his best friend, Joshua Shepherd, and other fallen military heroes. Participants are randomly assigned to vibrant color-coded teams, fostering camaraderie and friendly competition. Adding to the distinctive experience is a staggered "handicapped" start, where waves depart based on age and sex, designed to create an even playing field for team-based results while individual chip times reflect your true performance.
Prepare for typical race day conditions with highs around 87F and lows around 66F, along with a 17% chance of precipitation. This summer 10K is an ideal event to chase your goals, meet fellow runners, and be part of a race that emphasizes support and remembrance. Current ORRRC members and military veterans can even participate for free. Join the ORRRC Wingman 10k for a memorable blend of racing, community, and honor.
