Embark on a clandestine mission unlike any other at the OSS/CIA 50 Mile Night Run, taking place on June 13, 2026, in Triangle, VA. This unique ultra-marathon challenges runners across 50M, 25M, and 10M distances through the historic Prince William Forest Park, once a secretive training ground for the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the precursor to the CIA. The course immerses you in history, with roads and trails named in tribute to the "nameless" soldiers who trained here during WWII. You'll navigate two demanding 25.5-mile loops, primarily on single-track trails with sections of fire road and bridge crossings, accumulating around 4,700 to 6,000 feet of elevation gain. The race kicks off just before sunset, offering an unparalleled experience as you run through the night under headlamp, with the trails revealing a different mystery than in daylight.
Runners will find ample support throughout their nocturnal endeavor. The course features two fully-stocked main aid stations at the Telegraph Road Pavilion start/finish and the halfway point of each loop at Oak Ridge Camp Ground, along with two "mini-aid" stations providing water, Tailwind, and smaller food selections. Past participants praise the well-organized event and the incredible, uplifting volunteers who make the challenging journey more manageable. Pacers are permitted for the second loop, offering crucial companionship during the longest stretches of darkness, while crews are welcome at the start/finish area. Typical race day conditions in June see highs around 81°F and lows of 62°F, with a 16% chance of precipitation, meaning runners should prepare for potential warmth and humidity as they tackle this historically rich and physically demanding night mission.
