Get ready for a truly unique challenge and a day of inspiring community spirit at Peyton's Wild and Wacky 10x5K, returning to Mount Pleasant, SC, on March 14, 2026! This tenth annual event, held on the scenic Laurel Hill Trail, offers an unparalleled 50K ultra experience alongside a lively 5K race, all while honoring the memory of Peyton Moore. The 50K unfolds in a distinctive 10x5K format, requiring participants to complete a 5K loop at the top of each hour for ten consecutive hours, fostering both a demanding physical test and a vibrant social atmosphere at the "runner village" where solo and relay teams can set up tents. A standalone 5K event kicks off at 2:00 PM, sharing the same "wild and wacky" trail route.
The course itself is a true Lowcountry trail adventure, winding through 100% un-paved terrain on the Laurel Hill Trail, which features charming sections like a beautiful avenue of oaks. Runners can expect elevation changes ranging from 20 to 100 feet, along with the natural challenges of roots, water, and potential mud, ensuring a genuine trail running experience. Aid stations are well-stocked, offering "healthy" ultra fare like cookies, PB&J, chips, potatoes, and bacon, alongside water, bananas, and free coffee, all within a lively atmosphere featuring music and delicious food like Martin's BBQ. Typical race day conditions in mid-March boast pleasant highs around 66F and lows around 52F, with only an 11% chance of precipitation.
Peyton's Wild and Wacky has consistently sold out for the past eight years, drawing praise for its excellent organization, generous swag bags including cool shirts with Peyton's artwork, finisher medals, and one-of-a-kind awards. Beyond the race, it's a celebration of community, with all proceeds benefiting Peyton's favorite organizations: the Injured Marines Semper Fi Fund, Mount Pleasant Track Club, and Mount Pleasant Academy. This event is more than a race; it's a day of challenging yourself, enjoying camaraderie, and running for a wonderful cause.
