This impactful event offers both 10K and 5K distances, alongside a spirited Kiddie Dash, making it perfect for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. Hosted by the I.S. Hankins F.A. Johnson Education Foundation in conjunction with the Delta Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., the race is more than just a competition; it's a powerful stride towards supporting scholarships and the Young Men of Distinction (YMOD) mentoring program, which has awarded over $425,000 in college scholarships to date.
The in-person race kicks off from Jay Blanchard Park, a picturesque setting in Orlando known for its inviting paved trails, suggesting a scenic and generally flat course ideal for personal bests or a leisurely walk. Participants can look forward to typical race day conditions with highs around 91°F and lows around 74°F, and a 25% chance of precipitation. Registration opens at 6:45 AM, followed by an energizing Zumba warm-up at 7:30 AM before the 5K run officially starts at 7:45 AM. Every participant receives a commemorative race t-shirt, a finisher's medal, and a registration bag to celebrate their achievement.
