Pirate 5K and Half Marathon

Embark on a swashbuckling running adventure at the Pirate 5K and Half Marathon in scenic Hickory, NC, on April 4, 2026! This exciting event, part of the US Road Running Race Series, offers participants the choice of a 5K or a 13.1M challenge. Runners will navigate a scenic out-and-back course, with 5K participants completing two loops and half marathoners tackling six engaging loops. Ideal running conditions typically await in early April, with pleasant highs around 67°F and lows around 45°F, alongside a low 16% chance of precipitation.

What truly sets this race apart is its spirited pirate theme. Runners are heartily encouraged to embrace the pirate ethos by donning their finest costumes, with a special award for the best-dressed participant, and a group photo taken before the 8:30 AM start. All who cross the finish line will be rewarded with a unique themed medal to commemorate their accomplishment. The start line is conveniently located across the street from the corner of 16th Ave Pl NW and 12th St Dr NW, featuring ample parking and restrooms at the nearby trailhead. Be sure to register online in advance, as on-site registration will not be available.
