Lace up for the 17th annual Point of Honor 5K, set to take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, in the historic city of Lynchburg, VA. This popular 5K run and walk offers participants a vibrant experience while supporting a vital cause: raising awareness and funds for organ and tissue donation through LifeNet Health. Expect a welcoming atmosphere, as both runners and walkers are encouraged to join, though pets and strollers are prohibited to ensure a smooth course for all participants.
The race headquarters, including packet pickup and post-race activities, will be conveniently located at the Depot Grille in Downtown Lynchburg, with the start and finish lines just a short walk away. While the exact course for 2026 is still being finalized due to anticipated work on the Blackwater Creek Trail, the route is expected to largely utilize this scenic trail, providing a beautiful backdrop to your run. Typical race day conditions in early April feature comfortable highs around 66F and lows around 41F, with only a 14% chance of precipitation, creating ideal running weather.
Beyond the scenic course, runners can look forward to a chip-timed event with awards for the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as masters (40+) and top three in various age groups. The Point of Honor 5K is also a proud event in the Lynchburg Road Runners Race Series, known for fostering camaraderie and community spirit. Join fellow runners and walkers for a memorable race day complete with door prizes and food, all while contributing to a life-saving mission during National Donate Life Month.
