Queen City Mile

Lace up for an exhilarating evening at the Queen City Mile, set to take place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in Buffalo, NY. This popular 1-mile race invites runners of all ages and abilities to experience a fast and fun course through the scenic streets of the Old First Ward. Starting on Miami Street, the course navigates right onto Louisiana, then right onto South Street, concluding with a straightaway down Ohio Street to the finish line, promising an opportunity for personal bests.

More than just a race, the Queen City Mile is a celebrated event within the local running community, proudly presented by Checkers AC and recognized as part of both the USATF Niagara Runner of the Year Series and the Buffalo Runner of the Year Series. The evening kicks off with a dedicated kids' mile race at 6:00 PM, followed by gender-segmented heats for women at 6:30 PM and men at 6:50 PM, fostering a competitive yet inclusive atmosphere. Runners can expect typical race day conditions in mid-August to be warm, with highs around 80F and lows around 63F, and only a 14% chance of precipitation.

The festivities extend beyond the finish line with packet pickup and race day registration hosted from 4-6 PM at Resurgence Brewing, located at 55 Chicago Street. After pushing your limits on the course, join fellow runners for a vibrant post-race celebration at Resurgence Brewing, where cold beverages await. Custom barstools are awarded to winners, and USATF Niagara association members are eligible for prize money, adding an extra layer of excitement to this must-do event for Buffalo runners.
