Embark on an unforgettable trail running adventure at the inaugural Ridge Reaper Trail Runs on August 1, 2026, in the expansive Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River, NY. This challenging event, brought to you by Steep Endurance, offers three demanding distances: a 25K with over 2,200 feet of elevation, a 50K boasting more than 4,400 feet of climb, and a formidable 50M tackling over 7,000 feet of vertical gain.
The courses weave through 4,000+ acres of picturesque preserve, featuring a diverse landscape of mostly wooded trails. Runners will navigate a mix of highly runnable sections, technical singletrack, and wider carriage roads. While climbs are not excessively long, they are significant, rewarding your effort with stunning vistas throughout the park. The northern sections tend to be more technical and less hilly, while the southern part of the course introduces more carriage roads, substantial elevation, and breathtaking ridge views. Typical race day conditions in early August bring highs around 83°F and lows around 63°F, with a 16% chance of precipitation, providing a true summer trail experience.
Strategically placed aid stations, approximately 2-3 per loop depending on your chosen distance, will keep you fueled with water, NAAK electrolyte drink, chips, pretzels, candy, and other hot and cold food items. Remember, the Ridge Reaper Trail Runs is a cupless event, so come prepared with your own hydration system. The race kicks off from the scenic "meadow" section of the park, promising an exhilarating start and a rewarding finish in a location renowned for its vibrant trail running community.
