Prepare to "rock" the trails at the 14th Annual Rockin Choccolocco 50K, 13.1M, and 10K on April 25, 2026, in Heflin, AL. This popular event, a highlight of the Pinhoti Trail Series, immerses runners in the stunning landscapes of the Talladega National Forest, offering a unique blend of challenging terrain and breathtaking beauty. Expect typical race day conditions with highs around 75°F and lows near 49°F, with an 18% chance of precipitation, though humidity can add to the challenge.
The 50K course is a scenic point-to-point journey, traversing approximately 32 miles with around 5,000 feet of vertical gain, primarily on the beautiful single-track Pinhoti Trail. Runners will encounter rolling hills, numerous refreshing creek crossings, serene lake views, and dense hardwood and pine forests, all while winding through the enchanting Choccolocco Valley. The course features a mix of rooty and buffed-out sections, making it accessible for both first-time ultra-runners and seasoned veterans. Well-supported with six aid stations along the 50K route, runners can count on friendly volunteers and excellent organization.
All distances conclude at the picturesque Cahulga Creek Park in Heflin, which also serves as the start for the 13.1M and 10K races. The 50K begins near Greenleaf Dam (FS 532), with convenient bus transportation provided from the finish line to the start.
