About This Race

Embark on an unforgettable trail running adventure at the Rogue Gorge race on October 17, 2026, set amidst the stunning Southern Oregon Cascades. This event, hosted by Daybreak Racing, offers a diverse range of distances, including a challenging 50-mile, a scenic 50K, a swift Half Marathon, and an engaging 12K. Known for its incredibly beautiful scenery and vibrant fall foliage, the Rogue Gorge traces the iconic Upper Rogue Wild & Scenic River, providing runners with a unique journey through ancient old-growth forests and alongside the river's captivating geological formations.

The courses, predominantly 98-99% singletrack, weave through a landscape shaped by the historic eruption of Mt. Mazama. Runners will witness the Rogue River carving its way through collapsed lava tube chasms, cascading waterfalls, and even disappearing underground at Natural Bridge. The terrain features a mix of smooth dirt trails, intermittent roots, and technical basalt lava rock sections that demand focus and quick footwork. The 50-miler, a point-to-point course, boasts 4,000 feet of ascent and 5,900 feet of descent, with the first 30 miles offering runnable, net-descending trails. The 50K, also largely point-to-point for 2026, presents 2,800 to 3,000 feet of elevation change, while the Half Marathon features 900 feet of ascent and descent, and the 12K a more moderate 330 feet. Typical race day conditions in mid-October bring pleasant highs around 77°F and lows around 56°F, with a low 13% chance of precipitation, creating ideal running weather.

All races culminate at the Union Creek Day Use Picnic Shelter, with the 50M and 50K starting via shuttle from various trailheads to facilitate their point-to-point routes. Aid stations are strategically placed and well-supported by enthusiastic volunteers, offering Neversecond gels, hydration drinks, water, soda, fruit, chips, and PBJ sandwiches at longer distances. Runners should note that all Daybreak Racing events are cupless, so bringing your own hydration vessel is essential. This race promises not just a physical challenge, but a truly immersive experience in a breathtaking natural wonderland.
