The Ruck for the Fallen is a profoundly inspiring and challenging 10K obstacle course race, typically hosted at the scenic Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine. This unique event unites the community in a powerful tribute to fallen Service Members, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Participants embark on a journey through the beautiful, yet demanding, trails and rolling hills of Pineland Farms, strapping packs to their backs for the ruck portion of the event. It's a test of physical and mental fortitude, designed to reflect the challenges faced by service members.

The 10K course culminates in "The Crucible," a series of over 20 diverse obstacles specifically engineered to push participants' strength, will, and endurance. These obstacles, which can include low crawls, scaling walls, and a water slide, are a demanding test after the initial rucking segment. Emphasizing community and mutual support, the event encourages participants to assist one another, upholding the value of leaving no one behind. Inclusivity is key, allowing individuals to choose a ruck weight that presents a personal challenge, with packs dropped before the obstacle course for transport to the finish line. Typical race day conditions in early August bring highs around 79F and lows around 61F, with about a 16% chance of precipitation.

However, The Summit Project, the event's organizer, has announced that the Ruck for the Fallen will be paused for the year 2026. While the spirit of this impactful event remains, it will not be taking place on August 8, 2026.
