Run For It!

Lace up for "Run For It!", a vibrant community race set against the breathtaking backdrop of Davis, West Virginia, on Saturday, September 26, 2026. This popular event, a cherished tradition since its inception in 2007 by the Tucker Community Foundation, offers participants the choice of a 3.1-mile (5K) run/walk or a 1.2-mile (2K) walk, alongside virtual options. Held during the peak of the annual Leaf Peeper's Festival, runners and walkers will experience the "cool mountain air" and the stunning display of "leaves blazing red" that define this scenic region. Typical race day conditions in late September feature pleasant highs around 66F and lows near 47F, with a modest 17% chance of precipitation, creating ideal autumnal running weather.

Both the 5K and 2K courses start and finish at the Davis Fire Hall, located at 610 William Avenue, serving as the central hub for pre-race activities like packet pickup and registration. While the 5K course has been slightly re-routed for safety and is approximately 3.03 miles, it remains well-marked with green chalk and signage, and supported by course marshals. "First aid stations will be located along the racecourse" to ensure runner well-being, and portable restrooms are available at the Fire Hall. This inclusive event welcomes strollers and wheelchairs, and even leashed dogs are permitted to join from the back of the pack.

More than just a race, "Run For It!" is a powerful community celebration that has raised over $3.2 million for non-profit organizations and charities across West Virginia and Maryland since 2007. Described as "part fun run, part community-wide party," every step taken contributes directly to local causes, with half of the entry fees and all sponsorship and award donations benefiting chosen charities.
