Run for the Pumpkins Trail Run

Prepare for a captivating autumn adventure at the Run for the Pumpkins Trail Run, set for Saturday, October 3, 2026, in scenic Westerly, Rhode Island. This event kicks off the popular WTAC Fall Trail Race Series, offering distances for every runner: a challenging 10K, a swift 5K, and a free 1K Kids Fun Run for children 10 and under, who receive mini-pumpkins or gourds upon finishing. Runners will navigate the beautiful Bradford Preserve, traversing preserved Town of Westerly property and a section of Woody Hill Management Area. The course features primarily dirt trails, a mix of double-track and single-track, beginning with a 1/3-mile stretch across an open grass field to ensure a smooth start before hitting the trails. Adding to the festive atmosphere, the routes are marked not only with flags and signs but also with seasonal decorations like ghosts.

Embrace the vibrant fall foliage and crisp air, as typical race day conditions in early October bring highs around 69°F and lows around 53°F, with only a 13% chance of precipitation. As a unique safety requirement, all participants and volunteers must wear at least 200 square inches of orange, a mandate from the State of Rhode Island DEM.
