Run for the Zoo 2026

This cherished annual event, celebrating its 48th year, offers participants the choice of a 10K or 5K distance, welcoming runners and walkers of all abilities, alongside a special Kids' Course for younger participants. Typical race day conditions in late May bring comfortable temperatures, with highs around 77°F and lows near 58°F, accompanied by only an 18% chance of precipitation, creating ideal running weather.

The course is renowned for its scenic and largely flat terrain, winding through and around the iconic Lincoln Park Zoo and the surrounding Lincoln Park. Runners will be treated to breathtaking views of Chicago's magnificent skyline, the expansive Lake Michigan, and lush natural areas, with the added thrill of passing directly through animal habitats in the final stretch. While the 10K features a portion along the scenic Lakefront Trail, both distances offer a unique perspective of the city's beloved free zoo.
