Lace up for the 17th Annual RUN FOR YOUR LIFE 5K AND 1 MILE URBAN TRAIL RUN, set to take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in scenic Pineville, Louisiana. Both the 3.1-mile 5K and the 1-mile race will unfold against the historic backdrop of Forts Randolph & Buhlow State Historic Site, offering runners and walkers a unique blend of urban trail and picturesque river views. The course itself is described as a mixture of trail and sidewalk/road, ensuring varied terrain that remains enjoyable for participants of all skill levels.
This beloved annual event is more than just a race; it's a vibrant community gathering that proudly supports St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Participants can expect an exciting atmosphere filled with camaraderie and friendly competition. The 5K kicks off at 8:00 AM, with the 1-mile run starting immediately afterward. Typical race day conditions in early May feature comfortable morning temperatures, with highs around 80F and lows around 59F, and only a 13% chance of precipitation. After crossing the finish line, celebrate your accomplishment with fellow runners and enjoy some post-race food, with a reputation for serving boudin and sausage fresh off the grill.
The Run For Your Life event is renowned for its welcoming environment, encouraging everyone from competitive runners to casual walkers and even those with their canine companions. Cash awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as top Masters and Grand Masters. Additionally, prizes are awarded to the top three in numerous age divisions. Packet pickup is available on Friday, May 1st, at Lagniappe Homecare in Alexandria, or on race day morning directly at Forts Randolph & Buhlow State Historic Site.
