Salute to Service 5K & 1 Miler

Join the Salute to Service 5K & 1 Miler on November 7, 2026, in Suffolk, Virginia, for a heartfelt tribute to those who have served our nation. Hosted by Tidewater Striders and the City of Suffolk Parks and Recreation, this event offers both a 5K run/race walk and a 1-mile distance, making it perfect for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. The course promises a "fast, flat-ish" journey through Downtown Suffolk and the scenic Riverview neighborhood, starting and finishing at the vibrant Downtown Festival Park located at 215 W Washington St.

Participants can anticipate excellent race day conditions, with typical highs around 63F and lows around 43F, and only a 14% chance of precipitation, creating a comfortable atmosphere for your effort. A single aid station, offering water, will be conveniently located around the 1.5-mile mark of the 5K course to keep you hydrated.

Beyond the race itself, the Salute to Service stands out for its celebratory atmosphere and generous amenities. All registered runners will receive a premium event t-shirt, and every finisher will proudly take home a commemorative medal. The post-race festivities are a highlight, featuring an exciting after-party with a live band, beer, pizza, snacks, and cold beverages.
