About This Race

Embark on a challenging and scenic trail adventure at Samson's Revenge, set for May 23, 2026, in the breathtaking landscape of Estes Park, CO. This race, offering 10K, 27K, and 55K distances, pays tribute to Samson, the famed elk of the Rockies, running on the historic grounds of the YMCA of the Rockies where his descendants still roam. The course is celebrated for its fast single track trails and a significant elevation gain, notably featuring the "King of the Mountain" Bible Point ascent. Each approximately 10-kilometer loop presents 1,200 feet of climbing, with the initial climb to Bible Point being the most concentrated. Longer distances incorporate additional loops of flowing single track, packed dirt, and some gravel sections, promising a diverse and engaging terrain.

Runners will navigate a course designed to test their mettle while offering stunning views. Aid stations are strategically located at the start/finish line and atop Bible Point, providing water, electrolyte drinks, and an array of snacks and food to keep you fueled. Please note that Samson's Revenge is a cupless event, encouraging runners to bring their own reusable cups. For 27K and 55K participants, drop bags are available at the start/finish area. Typical race day conditions in late May in Estes Park see comfortable highs around 64°F and lows around 36°F, with a low 10% chance of precipitation, creating ideal trail running weather.

What makes Samson's Revenge truly unique is not just the exhilarating course, but also the spirit of competition and community. All registrations include a $29 day pass to the expansive YMCA of the Rockies grounds. Every finisher receives a custom Fractel hat and wool finisher socks, a fitting reward for conquering the trails. Furthermore, all three race distances feature a special King of the Mountain challenge for the fastest ascent of Bible Point, with unique, locally crafted prizes awaiting the victors. The race kicks off at 9 AM in front of the Administration building at the YMCA of the Rockies, with ample paved parking available for all participants.
