Schweizer Fest Road Run

Lace up for a spirited run through the heart of Tell City, Indiana, at the 49th annual Schweizer Fest Road Run on August 8, 2026. This beloved event, an integral part of the vibrant, week-long Schweizer Fest celebration, offers both a challenging 6-mile course and a swift 2-mile option, welcoming runners and walkers of all skill levels. Both races kick off on 7th Street near Everbody's Fun & Fitness Center, immersing participants in the festive atmosphere before concluding on Main Street in front of St. Paul's Church.

The 2-mile race offers a fast and flat route, perfect for those seeking a quick and enjoyable tour of Tell City's historic downtown. For a more demanding experience, the 6-mile course begins with a rapid downtown stretch before introducing a significant 1-mile, 200-foot vertical climb on Mozart Street. Runners will then enjoy a downhill descent on Tell Street, "flying" back towards the Main Street finish. Aid stations offering ample hydration are strategically placed along both routes, with the 6-mile course featuring stops at each mile, including crucial water shortly after the ascent and at the four-mile mark. Typical race day conditions in early August can include highs around 87F and lows around 69F, often accompanied by high humidity, so runners should prepare accordingly.

Beyond the race itself, participants are encouraged to soak in the unique charm of the Schweizer Fest, one of Indiana's longest-running community festivals, which celebrates Tell City's rich Swiss heritage with amusement rides, live entertainment, and delicious food.
