The Silver State 50-mile and 50K Endurance Runs, along with a challenging 13.1M Trail Half-Marathon, invite runners to experience the rugged beauty of Reno, Nevada, on May 16, 2026. This esteemed event, celebrating its 41st year for the endurance runs and 18th for the half-marathon, boasts a rich history as one of the most demanding trail races on the West Coast, maintaining an "old-school" community vibe. Typical race day conditions in mid-May offer pleasant highs around 72°F and lows near 46°F, with a low 3% chance of precipitation, providing ideal weather for a long day on the trails.

The courses traverse 100 percent dirt trails and roads, featuring a diverse mix of dirt, rock, pine trees, and excellent single track. Runners will navigate significant elevation changes, with the 50K boasting 6,100 feet of climb and descent, while the 50-mile race challenges participants with 9,500 feet of ascent and descent, reaching a high elevation of 8,266 feet and a low of 4,700 feet. The half-marathon offers 1,800 feet of climbing and descending over 13.1 miles of single track. These demanding routes are celebrated for their exquisite views of the Sierra Nevada and the Truckee Meadows, winding through Peavine Mountain and the nearby Carson Range. The event is even considered an excellent training ground for the Western States 100-miler and the Tahoe Rim Trail 100-miler.

Runners can expect a well-marked course supported by friendly volunteers at numerous aid stations—seven for the 50K and nine for the 50M—offering abundant nourishment, including salty and sweet goodies. Drop bag access is available at key points for longer distances. All races start and finish at Rancho San Rafael Park in northwest Reno, specifically from the Great Basin Adventure area next to the Arboretum, where post-race food and drink await to celebrate your accomplishment.
