Embark on an unforgettable trail adventure at the Snow Bull 6/12 Hour Endurance Runs, featuring a challenging Half Marathon, set for January 17, 2026. Hosted at the scenic Camp Chet in Whitwell, TN, this event promises a deep dive into the heart of the Cumberland Plateau. Runners can expect typical race day conditions with highs around 48F and lows near 31F, and a modest 18% chance of precipitation, creating a crisp winter running environment.
The core of the Snow Bull experience lies within its demanding yet rewarding 6.5 to 6.6-mile loop course, traversing nearly 1000 acres of private forested land on Whitwell Mountain. Runners will navigate a diverse landscape of mixed single and double track, open grass fields, mountain trails, and old mining/logging roads. Each loop presents a significant test with approximately 1500 to 1600 feet of elevation gain, offering spectacular views, bluffs, and the potential for picturesque wet weather creeks and waterfalls. The course is largely runnable, interspersed with moderately technical sections to keep participants engaged. A fully stocked aid station at the start/finish, complemented by a water-only station mid-loop, ensures runners have access to essential nutrition and hydration, with the added convenience of personal drop bag access.
What truly distinguishes the Snow Bull is its unique, immersive race weekend atmosphere. Camp Chet provides onsite cabins, tent spots, and RV rentals, allowing runners to literally wake up at the starting line and easily access their warm accommodations for recovery or strategic breaks during the timed events. This event, passionately presented by Mad Cow Trek Club and Camp Chet, extends beyond a mere race, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and a profound appreciation for the natural beauty of Southeast Tennessee. All finishers receive awards, with additional accolades for the top male and female in each distance.
