Get ready for an unforgettable experience at the South Nyack 10-Miler, set to take place on September 5, 2026, in the picturesque town of Nyack, NY. This USATF-certified course offers a challenging yet incredibly scenic journey along the Hudson River, beginning and ending at Franklin Street Park. Participants in the 10-mile race will enjoy breathtaking views of the Tappan Zee Bridge as they run south on Broadway, joining the Esposito Trail and extending out to the tip of the historic mile-long Piermont Pier. For younger runners, a lively 0.25-mile Kids Fun Run is also available. Typical race day conditions in early September present pleasant weather, with highs around 78°F and lows around 60°F, accompanied by a low 11% chance of precipitation.
The South Nyack 10-Miler boasts a dynamic course profile, starting with a fast descent of about 100 feet to River Road in the first mile. The subsequent seven miles offer a largely flat and fast out-and-back section to the Piermont Pier, providing an excellent opportunity to find your rhythm. The challenge arrives between miles 8.3 and 9.1, where runners will face a climb of approximately 100-120 feet as the course heads back into Nyack from the river. The final mile offers a rewarding, gradual downhill stretch on the Esposito Trail, guiding you to the finish line. To support runners, fluid stops are strategically placed approximately every 1.5 miles along the route, with water available at all stations and Gatorade offered at the 4.5-mile turnaround.
Beyond the personal challenge, the South Nyack 10-Miler is a beloved community tradition, organized by the Rockland Road Runners, known for its friendly atmosphere. Your participation supports local first responders, Nyack-area food programs, and the Rockland Road Runners Scholarship Fund. After crossing the finish line, celebrate your accomplishment at the festive after-party in Franklin Park, featuring refreshments such as water, bagels, bananas, and even ice cream and lager. Adding to the vibrant post-race experience, the event coincides with Nyack's famous Street Fair, located just a few blocks away, inviting runners and their families to enjoy local food, arts, and crafts.
