Star Spangled Spectacular

Get ready to celebrate Independence Day with a run at the 32nd Annual Star Spangled Spectacular, taking place on July 4, 2026, in Lima, Ohio. This cherished community tradition kicks off bright and early at 9:00 AM with the popular Freedom 5K, starting and finishing in scenic Faurot Park. Known as the area's largest run/walk, drawing over 1,000 enthusiastic participants, it's a fantastic way to begin your holiday festivities. Runners can expect typical race day conditions with highs around 84°F and lows around 63°F, and a 16% chance of precipitation.

The 5K course offers a dynamic experience, winding through parts of downtown Lima before returning to the beautiful surroundings of Faurot Park for the finish. While largely scenic, runners should be prepared for a "hilly part" appearing around the three-mile mark, adding a strategic challenge to the otherwise enjoyable route. The start and finish lines are conveniently located in Faurot Park on S Cole Street near Lakewood Avenue.

What truly sets the Star Spangled Spectacular apart is its integration into a day-long Independence Day celebration, attracting over 30,000 spectators to Faurot Park. Beyond the race, the day features a Round Net Tournament, a Veterans Appreciation Car Cruise-In, and a youth fishing derby. As evening approaches, the Lima Area Concert Band performs at 8:00 PM, leading up to the grand finale: the area's largest fireworks display around 10:00 PM, providing a spectacular close to an unforgettable holiday.
