Runners can tackle the 48-hour challenge at their own pace, completing as many or as few loops as desired, with a special belt buckle awaiting those who conquer 100 miles or more. The course itself is a runner's delight: a 2.71-mile loop of flat, wide, hardpacked grass designed to be forgiving on the feet, with minimal roots.
