Embrace the unique challenge of the Stunner Night Runs, a captivating trail event held on July 11, 2026, in the beautiful Usery Mountain Regional Park in Mesa, Arizona. As the fourth race in the popular Insomniac Night Trail Run Series by Aravaipa Running, this event invites runners to "Carpe Noctem – seize the night!". With distances including a 50K, 25K, 12K, and 6K, there's a distance for every night owl looking for adventure.
The course is renowned for being flat and fast, winding through the unique desert landscape of the Chain Fruit, Lost Sheep, Channel, and Blevins Trails at the base of Pass Mountain. Runners will experience the desert come alive under the stars, an experience often described as magical. Typical race day conditions in July see highs around 107°F, dropping to around 77°F at night, with a minimal 3% chance of precipitation, making the night start a welcome respite from the intense daytime heat. Participants can expect warmer temperatures, around 95°F, at the start, gradually cooling into the mid-80s as the night progresses. To combat the heat, fully stocked aid stations at the start/finish and a remote "Levee Aid" station along the looped course provide abundant water, ice, electrolyte drinks, sweet and salty snacks, fruit, PB&J, bean rollups, and even hot food like quesadillas and grilled cheese. Remember, this is a cupless race, so bring your reusable cup or purchase one on-site.
Starting and finishing at the Trailhead Staging Area within Usery Mountain Regional Park, the Stunner Night Runs offer a vibrant race village atmosphere where crews are welcome and drop bags are easily accessible. Pacers are permitted for 50K runners on their final loop only. A distinctive feature of this event is the "Double Down" opportunity, allowing participants to compete in both the Stunner Mountain Bike Ride on Friday night and the Stunner Run on Saturday for a discount and a unique combined award. All finishers receive a custom Artworx award, with podium awards for top male and female finishers in each distance.
