Lace up for a cause at the 3rd Annual Sweat For A Vet 5K, taking place on June 6, 2026, in scenic Murrells Inlet, SC. This impactful 5K run/walk, hosted by the Sons of The American Legion Squadron 178, is dedicated to supporting local military veterans and their families, continuing a proud tradition of community generosity that saw over $7,000 raised for local veteran organizations from last year's event. Whether you choose to participate in person or virtually, all runners and walkers are warmly welcomed to join this meaningful event.
The course itself is a highlight for many, beginning and ending at the American Legion Post 178. Runners can expect a beautiful, flat route with very few turns, making it ideal for setting a personal best or enjoying a leisurely stroll through Murrells Inlet. Strollers are welcome, and leashed dogs are also permitted on the course, provided owners are responsible for waste cleanup. Typical race day conditions in early June include highs around 84°F and lows around 69°F, with a modest 14% chance of precipitation.
Participants can look forward to a well-supported experience, with a single water stop conveniently located at the turnaround point. Refreshing snacks and water await all participants at the finish line, which is also at the American Legion Post 178, where restrooms and ample parking are available. Each registrant receives a custom-designed participant shirt, race bib, and a finisher medal, making this 5K a rewarding experience both on and off the course.
