About This Race

Prepare for an unparalleled trail running experience at the Tahqua Trail Run, set for August 8, 2026, in the breathtaking Tahquamenon Falls State Park in Paradise, Michigan. Offering challenging 50K, 25K, and 10K distances, this race is celebrated as a trail runner's dream, immersing participants in a magnificent point-to-point single track journey through the heart of the Tahquamenon River Wilderness. Runners will traverse diverse terrain, from remote dirt forest roads to winding single-track trails through spruce swales, pine ridges, and lush bogs, with the unique chance to spot a moose near Camp 10 and Water Tank lakes. Each course culminates in a spectacular finish near the majestic Upper Tahquamenon Falls, the second largest waterfall east of the Mississippi.

The Tahqua Trail Run promises a course that will make you feel fully alive. The 25K route, forming the basis for the new-for-2026 50K out-and-back, navigates 100% un-paved trails, featuring sections of flat, fast running interspersed with highly technical challenges, including roots, rocks, wet patches, and numerous staircases. The 10K, renowned as Michigan's most challenging 10K, also includes a scenic loop into forested highlands before joining the picturesque River Trail shaded by old-growth hemlock and yellow birch. Aid stations, located strategically along the longer distances, provide cold water, Gnarly Hydrate, Hammer Gel, Fizz, and Endurolytes; however, runners are required to carry a 20 oz refillable hydration system, as no cups are provided. Typical race day conditions in early August bring highs around 77°F and lows around 55°F, with only a 12% chance of precipitation, creating ideal running weather.

With a rich history dating back to 2000 and now managed by Aravaipa Running, the Tahqua Trail Run is known for its welcoming community and exceptional organization, drawing many returning participants annually. All distances conclude at the Upper Tahquamenon Falls, with bus transportation conveniently provided from the finish area or downtown Paradise to the respective remote start lines. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at the Paradise Lakefront Lodge. Immerse yourself in the stunning natural beauty and challenging trails of the Tahqua Trail Run for an unforgettable adventure.
