TARC To Hale and Back

Prepare to shake off the last vestiges of winter at the TARC To Hale and Back, an exhilarating trail race taking place on March 21, 2026, in Westwood, MA. Hosted by the community-focused Trail Animals Running Club, this event offers a challenging 6-hour timed race or a single 3.5-mile loop, both designed to welcome runners back to the dirt and longer days of spring. The approximate 3.5-mile loop course winds through the scenic Hale Education property, featuring a dynamic mix of singletrack and wider "fire road" trails. Runners will navigate mostly wooded sections, glide along the shores of a beautiful pond, and even traverse a couple of beaches. While the terrain is generally smooth, be prepared for "toe catchers" like roots and rocks, modest hills, and a few small stream crossings, along with potentially slippery boardwalks and wood bridges. This is not the easiest 3.5-mile loop, with technical footing and short, stout climbs promising a rewarding challenge.
