Lace up your boots and celebrate Texas pride at the 3rd Annual Texas Independence Day 5K, set for Sunday, March 1, 2026, in Grand Prairie, TX. This festive 5K invites runners, ruckers, and walkers of all skill levels to experience a scenic course along picturesque trails by a beautiful lake at The Epic, a sprawling campus with plenty of amenities. The course is described as fast and flat, making it an inviting challenge for those aiming for a personal best, and both strollers and leashed dogs are welcome to join the fun. Typical race day conditions in early March offer pleasant running weather, with historical highs around 64°F and lows near 42°F, accompanied by a low 12% chance of precipitation.
Beyond the 5K distance, this event is a vibrant community celebration. Participants are encouraged to don their favorite Texas gear or patriotic red, white, and blue attire, with a special prize of stylish cowboy boots for the "Best Dressed" winner. The festivities extend beyond the finish line with live music, refreshments, and a Vendor Village showcasing local businesses from across Texas. Hosted by the One Tribe Foundation, this family-friendly event supports those who serve our country and communities, adding a meaningful purpose to every stride.
The race day kicks off at 2960 Epic Place with packet pickup opening at 7:30 AM, followed by a ceremony at 8:30 AM, and the race start at 9:00 AM. Awards will be presented to the fastest overall male, female, and kid (12 & under), with the fastest child also winning a night at Medieval Times-Dallas.
