The course itself is a true test of trail prowess, starting at the Embudo Trailhead Parking Lot and embarking on a clockwise route. Runners will begin on Embudo Trail 193, heading east in what's known as the "Run to the Sun" as they climb towards 365 Trail. For over three miles, the route follows single track on 365 Trail, featuring a mix of rocks, challenging switchbacks, and rewarding climbs. Participants will navigate technical uphill and downhill sections, encounter cactus, exposed sheet rock, and traverse the distinctive U-Mound section, before looping onto the Hillsdale Loop, Trail 401, and alternating with Trail 285. The journey culminates with a crossing of the Embudo Arroyo Valley and a final exhilarating downhill dash back to the finish on Trail 193.
