The 5.4 Funky Run

This sixth annual celebration of disco culture offers runners a choice between an exhilarating 5.4-mile course and a spirited 2.7-mile "Not quite as Funky Run". Set against the scenic backdrop of Vista View Park, both distances challenge participants with a route that winds around and over the park's two prominent hills, with the longer race featuring two challenging loops. Directed by an RRCA Certified Race Director, this event promises a well-organized and unforgettable experience for all.

What truly sets The 5.4 Funky Run apart is its vibrant homage to the iconic disco era, encouraging runners to "shake their booties" through a challenging course. Participants are invited to embrace the 1970s theme with a spirited Disco Costume Contest held after the run, complete with awards for the Best Individual Male and Female Costumes. Beyond the top finishers, special recognition is also given for the "funkiest outfits" and "best dancers" spotted throughout the event. Typical race day conditions in mid-August in South Florida can be warm, with highs around 91F and lows around 77F, coupled with a 31% chance of precipitation, making the course's "four hills" a truly "scary" but rewarding challenge.

The festivities kick off bright and early at 7:00 AM on Saturday, August 15, with Vista View Park opening at 6:00 AM for check-in and race-day packet pickup.
