The AlKEMist Gravel Fest

Get ready to test your grit and embrace the stunning North Dakota landscape at The AlKEMist Gravel Fest on October 3, 2026, in Mandan, ND. Established in 2018, this event has quickly become one of the region's most anticipated fall gravel races, drawing cyclists eager for a challenge, community, and breathtaking views. Participants will begin their adventure at Graner Park / Sugarloaf Bottoms, just south of Mandan, embarking on a memorable climb out of the Missouri River Valley and onto the majestic bluffs of Morton County.

The AlKEMist Gravel Fest offers two compelling distances: "The AlKemist" at 55 miles and "The Elixir" at 30 miles, both welcoming e-bikes (though not eligible for podium awards). The 55-mile AlKemist course is a true test of endurance, blending grit and flow across some of the county's toughest terrain, featuring approximately 3022 feet of elevation gain. Expect fast descents, minimum-maintenance roads, and some of the longest climbs in the region, all set against a backdrop of wide-open prairie skies and unforgettable scenery. The 30-mile Elixir route provides a smoother yet adventurous experience with fast rollers and scenic stretches. With typical race day conditions seeing highs around 62°F and lows around 39°F, and only a 7% chance of precipitation, you can anticipate crisp, ideal riding weather.

An on-course aid station will keep you fueled and hydrated. Beyond the ride itself, The AlKEMist Gravel Fest is renowned for its vibrant community atmosphere, culminating in post-race awards, a complimentary hot meal fresh off the grill, and a well-earned drink to celebrate your accomplishments. Every finisher also receives a commemorative patch. For those looking to make a weekend of it, camping is conveniently available at the start/finish area.
