This deeply meaningful event honors the indelible legacy of Chief Raymond M. Downey, a highly decorated FDNY Deputy Chief who tragically lost his life on September 11, 2001, and all those affected by that day. Known as "The Master of Disaster" for his unparalleled expertise in rescue operations, Chief Downey's spirit is kept alive through this annual race, which has raised over $1.5 million for the D.C. Raymond Downey Scholarship Charity Fund and other cherished organizations.
