About This Race

Prepare for an unforgettable mountain trail adventure at The Kan, hosted in the stunning Mt. Spokane State Park on June 6, 2026. Offering 50K, 25K, and 10K distances, this race, now in its fourth year, delivers a genuine mountain experience with a unique blend of steep climbs, fast descents, technical singletrack, and flowing double-track trails. Runners will navigate through picturesque alpine meadows, fragrant huckleberry groves, and ancient pine forests, experiencing the best of Mt. Spokane's terrain, including summit climbs, Day Mountain, Kit Carson, and Bald Knob sections. The 50K boasts a challenging 6,000 feet of elevation gain, the 25K tackles 3,300 feet, and even the "hardest 10K in the Inland Northwest" presents a formidable 1,600 feet of ascent over approximately 7 miles.

All distances begin and conclude at the Selkirk Lodge in Mt. Spokane State Park. Aid stations along the course are well-supplied with water, Skratch electrolyte drink, fruit, pickles, chips, applesauce, and Coke to keep you fueled, though runners should bring their own gels if desired. Typical race day conditions in early June offer pleasant highs around 71°F and lows around 50°F, with only a 5% chance of precipitation, providing ideal running weather. After conquering the trails, celebrate your achievement at the finish line with a vibrant community atmosphere, complete with delicious burritos from Old European and custom-canned beer from Lumberbeard Brewing, all included with your race entry.

The Kan is more than just a race; it's a celebration of trail running, fostering community and offering a generous $2,100 prize purse, along with other awards like sports massages and gift cards. Whether you're a seasoned ultrarunner or looking to tackle your first challenging trail race, the inclusive environment and stunning scenery of The Kan promise a rewarding and memorable experience. Packet pickup is conveniently located at Fleet Feet in Kendall Yards the evening before the race.
