The straightforward one-mile course begins one mile north of Indiana State University's Memorial Stadium on Brown Boulevard, guiding participants to a festive finish right by the stadium grounds. Runners can anticipate typical race day conditions with highs around 86°F and lows around 65°F, and a small chance of precipitation, making for a warm but potentially fast morning.

What makes "The Mile" truly special is its commitment to inclusivity and community spirit. The event features multiple heats, thoughtfully organized by age and gender, including divisions for females 11-39, females 40+, males 11-39, and males 40+. A dedicated youth, walker, and community run heat ensures that participants of all ages and abilities can join the fun, with heats scheduled to allow families to cheer each other on.
