About This Race

Prepare for an unparalleled endurance challenge at The Napa Lapa Trail Adventure, set amidst the scenic, rolling hills of Napa's Skyline Wilderness Park on August 8, 2026. This unique event, Inside Trail's first time-based race, invites you to test your limits across 3-hour, 6-hour, and 12-hour individual or relay formats. Rather than a set distance, participants become "Napa Lappers" by covering as many miles as possible within their chosen timeframe, with the flexibility to run a lap, take a break, and re-enter the course as they feel ready.

The adventure unfolds on a challenging 4.16-mile main loop, featuring a significant 815 feet of elevation gain per lap over a mix of multi-use fire road and singletrack trails. As the event draws to a close, a shorter 0.34-mile loop opens, adding a strategic element for runners looking to maximize their final miles. Aid stations are exceptionally well-stocked, offering a diverse array of gels, chews, trail mix, fruit, soda, and Skratch Hydration, with one runner enthusiastically describing them as a "cruise ship buffet." Runners are encouraged to carry at least one 20 oz bottle, as it is a cupless event. Typical race day conditions in Napa promise comfortable weather, with highs around 78°F and lows around 56°F, and a 0% chance of precipitation, providing ideal running conditions.

Beyond the physical challenge, The Napa Lapa Trail Adventure cultivates a vibrant atmosphere. Runners consistently praise the course as "really fun" and an excellent introduction to ultras, while experienced ultrarunners find it reinvigorating. Individual and relay teams of two or three can participate, transferring a single bib to tackle the continuous loop. Awards include overall podiums, fastest lap, age-group medals, and even a "Dapper Lapper" award for the best-dressed, along with bottles of Omen Wine for top finishers. The start/finish area at Skyline Wilderness Park offers ample free parking via the West Gate, and camping is available, making it a perfect weekend escape for trail enthusiasts.
