More than just a race, the Thunderbird Warrior Challenge is a powerful fundraising collaboration between Camp Benesi and Mt. Ashwabay, honoring the memory of Master Sergeant Jonathan J. Dunbar, whose Ojibwe name was Waabishkebinesi, or White Thunderbird. This event supports Camp Benesi, a non-profit retreat providing peace and healing to veterans and Gold Star families in the serene Lake Superior region. Known as Wisconsin's northernmost trail run and the only one boasting views of the Apostle Islands, the Thunderbird Warrior Challenge promises a day of exhilarating competition, camaraderie, and family-friendly entertainment.
