Tour de Rocky Top

Gear up for the 20th edition of the Tour de Rocky Top, a premier cycling event set against the stunning backdrop of Townsend, Tennessee. On Saturday, July 11, 2026, cyclists will embark from Peaceful Side Social, tackling the scenic Blount and Sevier County roads that characterize this celebrated ride. With eight diverse route options, including the challenging 88-mile course, the event caters to a wide range of abilities. Riders can expect undulating foothills and, on specific routes, the infamous Butterfly Gap—a demanding 2.4-mile ascent averaging 8.2% with sections approaching 18%, a climb renowned even among professional cyclists for its difficulty in the Southeast.

Participants will find robust support throughout their journey, with fully stocked rest stops strategically placed approximately every 15 miles and comprehensive sag vehicle and moto support on all routes. The final 8 miles leading back to Townsend offer a more moderate terrain for a comfortable finish. Typical race day conditions in early July include highs around 83F and lows around 63F, with a 26% chance of precipitation. The experience culminates in a vibrant post-ride celebration at Peaceful Side Social, where finishers can enjoy a chef-curated meal, two complimentary beers, and live viewing of the Tour de France on big screens. All participants receive an official Tour de Rocky Top soft cotton tee, DeFeet logo socks, and a commemorative pint glass, with special medals awarded to Butterfly Gap finishers.
