Lace up your sneakers for the beloved Town Crier Races, returning to the charming, picturesque town of Saugatuck, Michigan, on Saturday, June 20, 2026! Celebrating its 25th year, this event offers a distance for every runner, including a scenic Half Marathon (13.1 miles), a challenging 10K (6.2 miles), a fun 5K (3.1 miles), and a Kids Fun Run. Runners can expect typical race day conditions with highs around 79°F and lows around 60°F, accompanied by a 14% chance of precipitation.
The course itself is a highlight, treating participants to breathtaking views of the lakeshore, the Kalamazoo River, and the vibrant harbor district filled with art galleries and restaurants. While largely a "mostly flat, fast course ideal for PRs," runners will encounter a few spirited inclines, including a "steep but short surprise hill" that adds an exciting challenge before descending towards Lake Michigan and running past stunning homes nestled among large trees. The Half Marathon, a point-to-point route, kicks off from Saugatuck High School and concludes with a festive finish at Beery Field in downtown Douglas, a gorgeous area brimming with boutique shops. Well-marked streets and numerous aid stations ensure a smooth and supported journey for all participants.
What truly sets the Town Crier Races apart is its unique small-town atmosphere and profound community spirit. You’ll be cheered on by enthusiastic volunteers, with the genuine "small-town vibe" ensuring "no one is a stranger" on the course. A real Town Crier, in an old-timey uniform and ringing a bell, adds a whimsical touch to the event. Beyond the personal accomplishment, your participation supports a fantastic cause, as the races have raised over $129,000 for the Saugatuck High School cross-country and track teams since 2002. Every finisher receives a custom bib, specially designed T-shirt, and a unique medal, with age group awards adding to the competitive fun.
