About This Race

Lace up for the 25th annual Town Crier Races on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in the picturesque Michigan "Art Coast" towns of Saugatuck and Douglas. Offering a Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K, this beloved event provides an unforgettable experience for runners of all levels. Expect typical race day conditions with highs around 79°F and lows around 60°F, accompanied by a modest 14% chance of precipitation. This race is renowned for its vibrant small-town atmosphere, where every runner's accomplishments are celebrated, and a genuine Town Crier, in full old-timey uniform, rings a bell to send you on your way.

The scenic courses treat participants to captivating views of the Saugatuck/Douglas area, winding along the beautiful Lake Michigan shore, past charming downtown harbor areas, and through neighborhoods with stunning homes. The Half Marathon, starting from Saugatuck High School and finishing at Beery Field in Douglas, offers riverside vistas of the Kalamazoo River and a mostly flat, fast route ideal for personal bests. While generally flat, the course does feature a couple of notable hills, including a "surprise" steep but short ascent and a larger hill with a rewarding downhill stretch in the later miles for half marathoners. Well-placed water stations at locations like 66th & 136th Ave and Lakeshore & Wiley ensure you stay hydrated and supported throughout.

Beyond the breathtaking scenery and engaging course, the Town Crier Races boast enthusiastic volunteer support and a strong community spirit. Participants receive a cool finisher medal, a custom bib, a specially designed T-shirt, and a Certificate of Race Completion, with age group awards also available. More than just a race, this event significantly supports Saugatuck Public Schools' cross-country and track programs, having raised over $129,000 since 2002. Come be a part of this cherished tradition where every step makes a difference.
