Towpath Trail Half Marathon

Prepare for an unforgettable journey at the Towpath Trail Half Marathon and 10K, set to take place on July 19, 2026, in the charming locale of Grand Rapids, Ohio. This race offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in nature and history, catering to both seasoned runners and those new to trail events. With typical race day conditions seeing highs around 87°F and lows around 65°F, and a 13% chance of precipitation, runners can expect warm summer weather for their challenge.

The scenic "out-and-back" course unfolds along the historic canal towpath, boasting crushed gravel and dirt paths with abundant shaded stretches, making it an excellent introduction to trail running with its generally flat, open terrain and stable footing. Starting and finishing at Providence Metropark near the dam, participants will be treated to picturesque views of the mighty Maumee River, running past historic canal locks and a quaint grain mill. Half marathoners have a three-hour time limit, while walkers are warmly welcomed to join the 10K event.

As part of the esteemed Toledo Roadrunners Club Trail Race Series, the Towpath Trail Half Marathon is renowned for its well-organized and friendly atmosphere, often selling out its limited 175 participant spots. Aid stations, providing water and Gatorade, will be strategically placed at approximately 2 and 5 miles on the outbound leg, ensuring half marathoners pass four stations and 10K participants pass two on their journey. All finishers will be awarded a special medal and a commemorative item, with gift certificates awaiting overall, masters (40-49), and grand masters (50 and above) winners in both distances.
