TRAIL BLAZER 15k & 5k

This popular annual event offers runners the choice of a 15K or 5K distance, known for its "flat and fast" course, perfect for chasing personal bests. Typical race day conditions in mid-July feature comfortable highs around 81°F and lows around 62°F, with an 18% chance of precipitation, creating an ideal summer running environment.

The race unfolds primarily along the paved section of the picturesque Ernst Trail, with only a brief quarter-mile stretch at the start and finish on Mercer Pike Road. Following a historic rail line, the trail guides runners through the lush bottomlands of the French Creek Valley, immersing them in a diverse landscape of open meadows, serene marshes, dense woodlands, and hemlock thickets. Its smooth surface and gentle grade ensure a rewarding experience for all participants. Water stations will be available on the course at the 5k and 15k turnarounds, with additional water and snacks awaiting runners at the finish line.

All events commence and conclude at Ernst Conservation Seeds, located at 8884 Mercer Pike, where ample parking and porta-potties will be available. Packet pickup is conveniently held on race day from 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM near the start line. The 15K race begins at 7:30 AM, followed by the 5K at 7:35 AM. This "great annual event" also proudly benefits the Tom McNally Trail Maintenance Fund, supporting the preservation of the beautiful Ernst Trail.
