Lace up for the Trail to Recovery, a meaningful and scenic event happening on Sunday, August 9, 2026, in Meadville, PA. This community-focused race offers both a 5K run and a 1-mile walk, inviting participants of all ages and abilities to hit the picturesque Ernst Bike Trail. The course is a pleasant out-and-back route, designed to be enjoyable for runners and walkers alike, with typical race day conditions in early August seeing highs around 79°F and lows around 61°F, with an 18% chance of precipitation.
More than just a race, the Trail to Recovery is organized by the Crawford County Drug & Alcohol Executive Commission Inc. (CCDAEC) to raise vital funds for the annual Recovery Celebration in Meadville and to increase drug overdose awareness. Participants will find water stations at both the start/finish line and the 5K turnaround to keep them hydrated. The event welcomes furry friends on leashes, and children aged 10 and under can join the fun for free alongside a registered adult.
Starting from the Ernst Bike Trail Bean's Trailhead at 18701 Smock Hwy, the 5K kicks off at 9:00 AM, followed by the 1-mile walk at approximately 9:15 AM. Unique to this event, a Drug Overdose Awareness memorial will be featured, and free Naloxone/Narcan will be available to further support the cause. Top male and female finishers, along with the top three in various age groups, will be celebrated with locally crafted awards.
