Prepare for an invigorating challenge at the True to the Brew Trail Run/Hike 13.1 Half Marathon, set for Saturday, October 3, 2026, in scenic Spartanburg, SC. This highly anticipated half marathon, limited to just 250 participants and known to sell out annually, guides runners and hikers through 13.1 miles of the picturesque Croft Passage of the historic Palmetto Trail. The course is largely unpaved, covering approximately 90% trails, and is characterized as moderate with some technical sections and hills, featuring an elevation gain from a starting point of around 550 feet to a high point of 835 feet. This makes it an ideal race for experienced trail enthusiasts seeking a rewarding test of endurance.
Participants will find ample support on their journey, with several well-placed water stops and aid stations approximately every 3 to 4 miles, as well as at the finish line. The race operates on a point-to-point course, beginning near Cedar Springs Baptist Church and culminating at Croft State Park, with convenient shuttles provided from the finish back to the start. Upon crossing the finish line, celebrate your accomplishment with a custom bottle opener medal and a delicious, fresh-cooked breakfast. The unique "True to the Brew" experience kicks off the evening before, on Friday, October 2nd, with packet pick-up at RJ Rockers Brewery, where participants can enjoy a complimentary beer and live music.
As part of the True to the Brew Race Series, this event also proudly supports the Palmetto Conservation Foundation and the preservation of the Palmetto Trail. Typical race day conditions in early October offer pleasant weather, with highs around 81°F and lows around 55°F, and only a 12% chance of precipitation, providing an excellent environment for trail running. Embrace the challenge, soak in the natural beauty, and celebrate your achievement in this memorable Spartanburg event!
