Join fellow runners and walkers on Saturday, April 18, 2026, for the University of North Georgia - Fallen Officer Memorial 5K, a deeply meaningful event in the picturesque town of Dahlonega, GA. This uplifting race is dedicated to honoring law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice and serves as a vital fundraiser for a new Fallen Officer Memorial on the beautiful UNG Dahlonega Campus. The memorial will permanently bear the names of fallen officers who either graduated from UNG or served with the UNG Police Department, creating a lasting tribute to their service. Expect an engaging atmosphere as you contribute to this noble cause, with the race kicking off at 8:00 AM sharp with the firing of a cannon.
The 5K course offers a unique and challenging experience on the scenic University of North Georgia campus. It features a two-lap design, incorporating both walkways and roads, with a notable approximately 400 feet of elevation gain throughout. Runners will navigate around a magnificent fountain during the second lap, enjoying the campus's stunning backdrop nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The effort is well-rewarded, culminating in a very fast, gradual downhill finish over the last quarter-mile, providing an excellent opportunity for a personal record. A single water station will be available at the roundabout before you begin your second lap to keep you hydrated. Please note that for safety, strollers and dogs are not permitted on the course due to narrow walkways and barriers.
Participants can look forward to typical race day conditions in mid-April, with highs around 72F and lows near 43F, and only an 18% chance of precipitation. All finishers who complete the course within the 1-hour time limit will receive a finisher's medal. Awards will be presented to the 1st place overall male and female, as well as the 1st place overall active or retired law enforcement male and female, and the top team of five. Packet pickup will be conveniently located at the start/finish line from 6:30 AM to 7:50 AM on race morning, with ample street and lot parking available nearby. Join this impactful event to challenge yourself and honor heroes on the historic UNG campus.
