US 5K and 13.1

This US Road Running Club Race offers both a Half Marathon (13.1M) and a 5K, welcoming runners of all levels to Green Hills County Park. The unique course, set atop a former municipal landfill, provides distinctive elevation features and concrete surfaces, ensuring an engaging run with "elevated natural vistas" and the potential for "stunning views of Raleigh's downtown skyline" on clear days.

Starting promptly at 9:00 AM, both distances follow an out-and-back format. The 5K runners will complete a 0.78-mile out-and-back segment twice, while Half Marathon participants will tackle a 1.09-mile out-and-back segment six times to reach their 13.1-mile goal. Typical race day conditions in mid-July include highs around 91F and lows around 71F, with a 16% chance of precipitation, so prepare for a warm Raleigh summer morning. Packet pickup begins 30 minutes before the start, with no on-site registration.

This event is part of a festive, themed race series by US Road Running, known for its engaging atmosphere, complete with a costume contest. The race begins and ends at Green Hills County Park, with convenient parking and bathrooms located by the playground on the north side of the park.
