Ward Mountain Trail Run

The Ward Mountain Trail Run, set for June 20, 2026, in scenic Ely, Nevada, offers an unforgettable challenge for trail enthusiasts of all levels. Starting and finishing at the Ward Mountain Campground, this event immerses runners in the stunning landscape of Ward Mountain. Participants can choose from distances including a 2M, 5M, 8M, 13.1M (half marathon), and a demanding 26.2M (marathon), winding through predominately single-track trails on Forest Service lands. Typical race day conditions in June bring highs around 85°F and lows around 43°F, with a minimal 2% chance of precipitation, promising clear, invigorating air for your run.

The course features outstanding trails and scenery, with sections of gentle uphills, rolling terrain, and engaging switchbacks as you gain elevation through aspen stands and riparian corridors. While loops closer to the campground offer an easier experience, the longer distances traverse more challenging sections further up the mountain, with the 13.1M course alone featuring about 1,850 feet of elevation gain. Aid stations are strategically placed along the longer routes, with up to three stations for the marathon and half marathon, though the third for these distances is a self-serve, unmanned station.

A unique highlight of this event is the opportunity for runners aged 13 and older to bring their leashed canine companions along for an additional fee.
