Wichita State Engineering 5K

Lace up for the 5th Annual Wichita State Engineering 5K, set for Saturday, February 28, 2026, in Wichita, KS. This spirited 5K run/walk invites students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members to experience a USATF-certified course winding through the scenic WSU Innovation Campus. Designed to be enjoyable for all participants, the route offers a motivational experience on what is generally a flat and accessible terrain.

Kicking off behind the John Bardo Center at 9:00 AM, the race promises a vibrant atmosphere as part of National Engineers Week celebrations. Typical race day conditions in late February see comfortable highs around 52°F and lows around 30°F, with only a 6% chance of precipitation, creating a brisk and ideal environment for a personal best. Finishers will be greeted back at the John Bardo Center with water and snacks, along with a special edition race medal and a commemorative long-sleeve crewneck shirt.

Beyond the personal challenge, this event carries a meaningful purpose: all proceeds directly support the College of Engineering Needs-Based Scholarship Fund, helping students achieve their academic dreams. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female runners across various categories, including WSU Students, Faculty/Staff, Community, and Alumni, making it a truly inclusive celebration of running and community support.
