Embrace the frosty challenge at the 17th annual Winterläufe - The Winter Race, an exhilarating 8K run and walk set for Saturday, February 7, 2026, in the charming Bavarian-themed town of Frankenmuth, Michigan. This beloved event, translating to "winter run" from German, traditionally kicks off the racing season for many, attracting an average of 700 participants annually. The scenic out-and-back course promises a unique winter experience, starting behind Zehnder's Restaurant and winding through picturesque, snow-dusted countryside. Runners will traverse over the historic 1904 Gugel Bridge, a landmark on the National Register of Historic Places, before returning to downtown Frankenmuth. While predominantly flat, the course does feature some rolling sections with downhills and uphills to keep you engaged.

Typical race day conditions for early February in Frankenmuth bring highs around 30F and lows around 14F, with a modest 8% chance of precipitation, providing a true winter running atmosphere. After conquering the course, participants can refuel with amazing finish line food and cozy post-race refreshments.
