About This Race

Prepare for an unparalleled mountain running experience at the Wy'east Trailfest, set for August 16, 2026, in the stunning surroundings of Mt. Hood Meadows within the Mt. Hood National Forest, Gresham, OR. This celebrated event, known for its "wildly beautiful, dynamic and challenging" courses, offers a diverse range of distances, including a 50M, 50K, 28K, Half Marathon, 14K, and 8K, ensuring a perfect challenge for every trail enthusiast. The 2026 Wy'east Trailfest is particularly special as its 50K race holds the prestigious title of the USATF 50K Trail National Championship.

Runners will ascend Oregon's alpine rooftop, with some courses reaching elevations of 8000 feet on Wy'east, the ancestral name for Mt. Hood, offering incomparable panoramic views of the Pacific Crest, Central Oregon high desert, and the Columbia River Gorge. The terrain varies dramatically, from smooth dirt singletrack through lush wildflower meadows and deep forests, to steep, technical, exposed, and sometimes scrambly volcanic rock trails. Expect significant elevation changes; for instance, the 50M boasts 10,650 feet of gain, while the 28K involves 4,300 feet of ascent and descent. Typical race day conditions in mid-August are pleasant, with highs around 83°F and lows around 58°F, and only a 2% chance of precipitation.

Daybreak Racing is renowned for its meticulously marked courses, fully stocked aid stations, and vibrant community atmosphere. Aid stations, staffed by enthusiastic volunteers and professional medical personnel, provide a range of hydration and fuel options, including Neversecond gels and drinks, water, soda, bananas, oranges, chips, and PB&J sandwiches. Remember to bring your own cup as all Daybreak races are cupless. While the 50M and 50K are point-to-point races requiring a shuttle to the start, all events finish at the lively Mt. Hood Meadows Sun Deck, where a post-race celebration awaits with food and camaraderie. RV and car camping are also available at Mt. Hood Meadows for a full weekend adventure.
